Star Creative Industries Application and Research Center Project

Purpose of the project
Star Creative Industries Application and Research Center Project supports the entrepreneurship, skills and future of young people and contributes to education, social and local development. In addition, it is aimed to support young people to be an active and harmonious member of the society they live in. It is aimed to make the communication of young people with families and society healthier; to make them adopt the sense of belonging to the society they live in; thus to improve the level of public welfare and the quality of life in society, public and private.
The main objectives of the project are:
- Establishment of a "Center of Enforcement and Research of Creative Industries” within Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ),
- The establishment of a music technology workshop, film post production studio, interactive media workshop, plastic arts and gravure workshop within this center.
- Using these workshops for support of formal training and for common educational purposes.
- Using the equipment and materials in workshops for research and development and production outside of training.
- Increasing the application and production experience of faculty academic staff and students.
- Reducing unemployment and increasing qualified labor force through vocational labor in the surrounding districts.
- Leading the art and design market with qualified and edible production in workshops.
- Making the faculty gain income on manufacturing and design issues.
- Making internationally valid patenting studies with the developed products.
What's been done?
The most basic and visible activity of the project is the establishment of the "Center of Creative Industries Application and Research”. 5 practice workshops have been activated within this center. The project is owned by the Faculty of Art and Design of Yıldız Technical University. The Social Mind Association and the Municipality of Esenler have been involved in the project as an "affiliate”.
The workshops covered by the project are:
- Music technology workshop
- Film post production studio
- Interactive media workshop
- Painting and grading workshop
- Three-dimensional workshop
These workshops are qualified to raise the industry's bar by creating innovative products and approaches with research and development activities, apart from building infrastructure for formal and common education. Thus, the production of high quality products and services is continued.
Activities carried out in practice workshops are collected in three main groups;
- Providing theoretical and practical training both to YTÜ students and external students during the academic year and during the summer holidays,
- Research and development work in the field of creative industries in workshops by the faculty, students and external experts, and design of qualified and innovative products and services
- Addressing market requirements by providing the products and services that the industry needs.
Results
Many participants have been given a number of supporting awareness and practice trainings that will be useful for life within the scope of the "Project of the Application and Research Center of Creative Industries", which is jointly conducted by Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Art and Design and the Esenler Documentation and Social mind Association. The free trainings consited of 3-5-hour courses. The Istanbul Development Agency provided funding for the project.
